GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

Shell.

Construction is in the traditional English Narrowboat style.

The shell has a 10mm steel plate bottom, hull side of 6mm and top cabin 4mm.

  • Overall length 57' (17.3 metres)
  • Beam 6'10" (2.1 metres)
  •

Insulation.     The shell is insulated with ‘Sprayfoam’ insulation.

Lineout.         Oak veneered plywood in a solid oak framework.

Woodwork fittings. Oak and oak veneered materials.

Note: The galley is furnished with modified standard kitchen units, oak finished with solid oak doors.

    ELECTRICS.

    Starter battery 1: 12volt 90 ampere hour

    Bowthruster battery

Both of the above batteries are charged via a split diode system from the engine 7ampere alternator via a Sterling battery management system when criusing or trickle charged from an Atlas Combi system (see below) when on shoreline.

Domestic battery 4: 12volt x 110 ampere hour Trojan deep cycle.

Thie domestic batteries are charged from the engine 95 amp alternator via its own Sterling battery management system when criusing or when on shoreline from the Atlas Combi charger (75 amps)

Inverter Charger System. Victron Atlas-Combi 12/1600/75 with
a continuous power output capability 1600Watts at 230volts alternating current (pure sine wave).
& 75 amps at 12 volts for charging the domestic batteries.

The shoreline 230volts is derived via a Victron isolation transformer suitably connected to prevent electrolysis action on the hull.
The vessel has a rings of 230 volt and 12volt sockets with a separate 230volt socket for the washing machine.

Washing machine socket is only energised when the engine control panel switch (ignition switch on a petrol engine) is on. This socket allows the washing machine to be run only when the engine is running thus reducing demand on the domestic battery if a cold fill only washing machine is used.
However the machine can be connected to a normally energised socket where an alternative source of suitably heated water is available. A recent modification allows reduction of demands for water heating on the washing machine. This has been achieved by fitting a thermostatic control between the hot and cold supply and the machine and suitably setting the temperature of the water.

    GAS SYSTEM.

Two 37Kg gas bottles are housed in the gas locker located at the bow of the vessel.

There are only two items utilising gas which is normally Propane.

1 Stoves 500 DIT stainless steel cooker

    2 Electrolux RM6401 Refrigerator (Propane).

This refrigerator can also be operated at 12 volt or 230volt.

When on shoreline we run it on 230volts ac.

    WATER SYSTEM.

The water tank is located un der the front deck.

    Material Stainless steel

                        Capacity 540 litres (120 gallons)

The majority of the plumbing system is in plastic ('Pushfit' system).

There are small elements of 15mm and 20mm copper where extra rigidity are required. This readily interfaces with the 'Pushfit' system.
