Another month has passed by incredibly quickly. We have had some very cold spells again but also some days with sunshine giving a bit of warmth.  The people of Decize are indicating that the winter months are somewhat longer than usual. What has cheered up this cold spell has been our visitors. We have been so pleased  to be able to share our finding of a very nice town, Decize. We will further explore this small town during March to capture some other photographs as a souvenir of our winter moorings. Meanwhile we continue to visit the Friday market with great pleasure and we have learned a great deal about the different regional cheeses that are displayed on the stalls. The market stall holders are full of useful information about taste, cooking and serving; an education from people who have a good knowledge about what they are selling.

Ben, the aged retriever who we now think of  as nearing 17 years (22nd June), is still alert and wants to know what is going on in the boat although we stroll rather than go for a walk. With the help of our fellow Italian boating friends and their transport, we had a useful visit to the vet, who gave him a very good MOT. Medication has been adjusted and he his responding well. When we recommence our boating late March , the chances are that he will be standing on the front deck ,looking for all the world as if he is our navigator.

Visits from friends and family have been absolutely lovely. June, Nick, and grandchild Vicki came for a weekend mid February. It was great to see them and to catch up with their news. I suppose  it should be recorded that Vicki was the scrabble chance on one occasion during the weekend. Then we had a delightful visit from Maggie and Tony who provided great support when we were travelling to Dover to embark on our adventure with the boat. The visit was a mix of laughter, an up date of events and 'putting the world to rights'. The time together just lew by as did our weekend with June, Nick and Vicki.

A short Web message this month but keep in touch because the month of March will be a time when we say farewell to familiar views of Decize and start our boating journey along the Canal de Lateral  a  la Loire. Before our departure we are looking forward to a carnival in Decize on the the 5th March and a visit from another friend on the 13th March.

For the folks who have indicated that they would be interested in some more technical details, including the layout of the boat, Paul has done his homework and this can be accessed here.........<Technical>
